Outdoor Life

Our Matron’s hens and chickens are a great success with the children collecting free range eggs daily.  The look on their faces when they see the chicks growing from day to day is enough on it’s own to make the job seem worth while.

Many of the children have never seen the sea or been to the cinema, but what is even more astonishing is that often these young people have never seen cows or horses and they love the local walks on the moor to see the cattle and young foals.  Despite today’s society of electronic games etc, our young guests can’t get enough of traditional, liberating free fun  playing outdoors on the swings, trampolines, slides and large wooden adventure play equipment. These, along with the wooden fort, the football pitch and the fresh air, really ensures they get plenty of enjoyment and exercise.  It’s surprising just how many of the children have never had the chance to play outdoors like this. Come bed time, with all the fresh air and running around, they are ready for a good nights sleep to prepare them for the next exhilarating day of their holiday.
